Mounting Systems for PV Installations
K2 Systems primarily supplies mounting systems for photovoltaic installations. Whether for flat or pitched roofs, façade-mounted systems, or ground-mounted installations, the solutions are suitable for residential buildings, carports, commercial properties, and PV parks.
In addition, K2 offers a range of digital solutions, such as the planning and design tool K2 Base or a mobile app for use directly on construction sites.
Flat Roof Systems
Large buildings, especially factories and warehouses, typically feature extensive flat roofs that are often ideal for PV systems. These installations require specific mounting systems that differ from those used on pitched roofs. The modules and the entire system must be able to withstand wind loads and allow for optimal alignment.
D-Dome 6 is a mounting system that enables modules to be aligned in two directions, for example east and west. This dual-orientation makes efficient use of roof space. If modules are aligned in only one direction, spacing must be maintained to avoid self-shading. With a dual-orientation layout, these spaces are also fitted with modules facing the opposite direction, allowing the system to generate electricity from morning to evening.
S-Dome 6 is designed for single-orientation layouts, which may be more suitable depending on the project and building—for example when primarily utilizing solar irradiation from the south.
Both D-Dome and S-Dome systems are available in Xpress and Classic versions. Xpress systems are delivered pre-assembled, while Classic systems are not pre-assembled.
Dome Zero is installed parallel to the roof surface, without tilt, on roofs with a maximum inclination of 10°. The distance to the roof is minimal, and the modules can be concealed behind a parapet, if present. A parapet is an extension of the exterior wall rising above the roof surface, forming a low surrounding wall.
TiltUp Vento is a system consisting of only a few components and offering three fixed tilt angles: 20°, 25°, and 30°. It is either fixed directly using concrete anchors or ballasted with concrete foundations. The GreenRoof Vento variant includes specially developed components for installations on green roofs.
The Triangle/MultiAngle system is more flexible than TiltUp Vento, as the tilt angle can be adjusted between 10° and 45° depending on location and roof conditions. This system is also more cost-effective than the Dome systems.
Pitched Roof Systems
Pitched roofs are standard in the residential sector and also common for smaller commercial buildings. K2 Systems offers various mounting solutions for pitched roofs.
The SolidRail system includes a comprehensive range of rails, enabling installers to flexibly respond to different load cases and span widths. Thanks to a wide selection of compatible roof hooks, it is suitable for all roof coverings except bitumen.
SingleRail closes this gap: with the Splice Foot fastener, it is the only K2 mounting system suitable for pitched roofs with bitumen covering. Rails are available in different strengths and dimensions. The rails are attached laterally to the roof hooks—within the visible area—making installation easier.
The K2 insertion system (in-rail system) ensures a particularly harmonious overall appearance. Modules are not fixed using individual clamps but are instead inserted between supporting profiles, creating a continuous surface on the roof. Installation is quick and easy, requiring no screws or module clamps.
For metal roofs with trapezoidal sheet metal, corrugated sheets, or sandwich panels, both the SolidRail and the insertion system are suitable. In addition, K2 offers specific systems for these roof types:
BasicRail is suitable for trapezoidal and sandwich roofs. It is installed in just four steps and is designed for high loads. The floating mounting of the rails in the SpeedClips ensures controlled thermal expansion. The BasicRail system has a general building authority approval (abZ). With RailUp, an additional elevation, rear ventilation of the modules can be improved.
MiniRail may only be installed on trapezoidal sheet metal roofs. It consists of particularly short rails, optimizing material usage for storage and transport. Additional elevation using MiniFive is possible, supplementing the roof pitch.
MultiRail is also designed exclusively for trapezoidal sheet metal roofs and combines roof attachment and mounting rail in a single component. The rail is fixed directly to the roof, eliminating the need for supporting elements. MultiRail can serve as a base rail for elevation using Dome 6 systems. The MultiRail CSM variant is suitable for corrugated metal sheets.
Roof Hooks
The pitched roof systems include a variety of K2 roof hooks that are mounted to the rafters. The different roof hooks vary depending on roof covering and installation convenience. There are roof hooks specifically designed for:- Concrete roof tiles
- Coppo tiles / monk-and-nun roofing
- Interlocking roof tiles
- Beaver tail tiles
- Slate roofing
Facade Systems
These mounting systems are designed for the vertical installation of solar modules on building facades. In principle, facade mounting systems function like other mounting systems: rails are installed first, and modules are fixed to them using module clamps. They can be installed on both new and existing buildings, with systems tailored to different facade types.Ground-Mounted Systems & Carports
K2 also offers systems for ground-mounted installations and canopy structures such as carports. The P-Rack system is designed for smaller installations. No installation planning is required, as the systems are delivered pre-configured in fixed sizes for 14 to 16 modules, with two different load classes.Accessories for Mounting Systems
The various systems include numerous components to adapt installations to specific conditions and designs. In addition, K2 offers further accessories, such as:- Fall protection for the Dome 6 flat roof system
- Various cable management solutions, such as wire basket trays or cable managers
- Components for lightning protection and equipotential bonding
- A measuring set for determining the coefficient of friction
Digital Services for Planning and Installation Support
MyK2
In addition to mounting systems, the company offers digital services that work seamlessly together to ensure that tasks before, during, and after installation can be completed in the shortest possible time and with minimal effort. All that is required is a free K2 customer account in MyK2, which provides access to all digital services.
K2 Base
K2 Base is a planning tool for designing PV systems. Roof areas can be defined using Google Maps and populated with modules. Taking wind and snow loads into account, the tool calculates a mounting plan and generates a bill of materials. Thermal separations and maintenance corridors can also be displayed. The data can be transferred to other planning tools.
K2 DocuApp
A digital companion for the construction site and customer meetings: with the K2 DocuApp, projects can be created, imported from the K2 Base planning tool, and managed. Tasks can be created and shared with colleagues, and construction progress can be documented. Relevant data for the market master data register is compiled within the project. At the end, customers can sign directly in the app and accept the PV system. Completed projects are stored in an archive, and inspection intervals for existing systems can be recorded.
