To FAQ
Flat Roof Systems
Large flat roofs – such as those on factory or warehouse buildings – provide ideal conditions for PV installations. These require specially designed mounting systems that can handle high wind loads and allow for flexible module orientation.
  • D-Dome 6 enables east-west orientation, maximizing roof usage by preventing mutual shading between rows
  • S-Dome 6 supports single-sided south-facing alignment – ideal where sunlight comes from one dominant direction
  • Both systems are available in Xpress (pre-assembled) and Classic (non-pre-assembled) versions
  • Dome Zero is installed parallel to the roof surface – ideal for roof pitches up to 10° with existing parapets
  • TiltUp Vento offers quick assembly with few components and fixed tilt angles (20°, 25°, 30°). The GreenRoof Vento variant is designed specifically for green roofs
  • Triangle / MultiAngle allows for flexible tilting angles between 10° and 45° – a cost-effective alternative to dome systems

Pitched Roof Systems

Pitched roofs are standard in residential and small commercial installations. K2 Systems offers numerous solutions:
  • SolidRail covers almost all roofing types thanks to a wide variety of rail profiles and roof hooks – except for bitumen roofs
  • SingleRail closes that gap: in combination with Splice Foot, it’s the only K2 system suitable for bitumen roofs
  • The inlay system from K2 creates a clean-looking module surface with no visible clamps – fast to install and aesthetically pleasing

Special solutions for metal and trapezoidal roofs:
  • BasicRail – for trapezoidal and sandwich roofs: fast installation, high load capacity, thermally decoupled, approved by building authorities
  • MiniRail – short rail lengths, minimal material use, and optional tilt angle with MiniFive for trapezoidal metal roofs
  • MultiRail – combines rail and roof attachment in one, and can also serve as a base rail for Dome 6. The MultiRail CSM version is suitable for corrugated sheet metal roofs

Facade Systems

Vertically installed modules also allow façades to be used for solar power generation. Our systems are suitable for both new and existing buildings and various façade types:
  • WallPV FacadeRail – for brickwork and concrete, including use with ETICS (e.g. polystyrene) and ventilated facades
  • WallPV PerfoRail – allows rails to be mounted directly onto insulated masonry without penetrating the insulation
  • WallPC CarrierRail – for sandwich panels (e.g. by Fischer Profil or Montana Bausysteme), fixed with approved thin-sheet screws
  • WallPV MultiRail – designed for trapezoidal and corrugated metal façades, especially in agricultural buildings

Ground-Mounted Systems & Carports

K2 also provides mounting systems for PV installations away from rooftops:
  • P-Rack – for small ground-mounted systems: pre-configured, available in fixed sizes (14–16 modules), no project planning required
  • N-Rack – for medium-sized systems: flexible configuration with either concrete foundations or pile-driving. Requires custom project planning

Roof Panels

From Marzari and Otto Lehmann, we offer color-matched metal roofing panels with pre-mounted roof hooks, foam wedges, or pre-drilled holes. These allow for easy installation without cutting or drilling through existing roofing sheets.

Accessories for Mounting Systems

In addition to structural components, we provide a wide range of accessories that simplify and enhance the installation process:
  • Fall protection (e.g. for Dome 6 systems)
  • Cable management (wire mesh cable trays, K2/Conduct cable organizers)
  • Lightning protection and equipotential bonding components
  • Friction coefficient measurement kits
  • Mounting trays and rail extensions from Renusol
  • …and much more

Planning PV Substructures with K2 Base

The K2 Base digital tool enables easy planning of PV mounting systems. Using Google Maps, installers can define roof surfaces and position modules directly. The software calculates loads (wind, snow), generates mounting plans and itemized lists. Thermal and maintenance-related separation zones are also taken into account. All project data can be transferred directly to the Krannich Solar webshop – all that’s required is a free MyK2 account.
